Burgon & Ball - a British Company with a Long Tradition

Burgon & Ball's history dates back to 1730, spanning almost 300 years. Based in Sheffield, the company has long roots. As early as the middle of the 19th century, the company produced up to 300,000 shears a year for sheep shearing. Their secret: instead of the usual iron used for their products, they use cast steel for their blades.

At the end of the 19th century, the company began exporting its products to South America, thereby making the leap into internationalization. In the twenties, their production of secateurs surpassed their production of shears for sheep shearing.

Today, Burgon & Ball garden tools are officially recommended by the Royal Horticultural Society - there could hardly be a greater distinction in the horticultural industry!
