Description
When bumblebees fly from flower to flower, they immediately put a smile on observers' faces. These hard-working insects are out and about for up to 18 hours a day, even when the weather is bad. They fly to around 1000 flowers every day and perform invaluable services in pollinating plants. Especially in rainy and rather cool summers, bumblebees are indispensable helpers in the garden thanks to their low temperature sensitivity. It is therefore all the more important that they always have a safe shelter.
With the DENK Hummel-Burg Granicium® you can specifically settle bumblebees in your garden by offering them a species-appropriate nesting opportunity. This is particularly important as natural nesting sites for bumblebees are increasingly being destroyed by human encroachment on nature.

Place the DENK bumblebee castle directly on the garden soil with the opening facing east and insert the provided nesting wool. Choose a location where the bumblebee castle never gets direct midday sun. Ideally, it will only get morning sun. Once the bumblebee castle has been inhabited, its position must not be changed, otherwise the bumblebees will not be able to find their way back to it. If you set up the bumblebee castle for the first time in autumn instead of spring, fill it with soft padding and insulation material so young queens can hibernate in it.
Cleaning:
In principle, the Hummel castle should be roughly cleaned with water in the Autumn. If the supplied nesting material is used up, you can use sheep's wool or a similar material instead.
