What is PUL and what are its advantages?

PUL is a polyester fabric paired with a thin, elastic plastic film. The two components are bonded together with heat, pressure and adhesive. A "green" polyurethane hot melt adhesive is used here which is solvent-free, environmentally friendly and does not release any volatile organics.

The advantages of PUL are durability and robustness. Because it can be machine washed and reused, it is a far more environmentally friendly option compared to single-use plastic. The PUL fabric is CPSIA certified and meets the stringent standards of the US Consumer Products Safety Commission on lead, phthalates and flammability. The material is also certified for repeated-use food storage.
