Description
The delicious, fruity, egg-shaped Pepino melons (Solanum muricatum) are wonderful fruits that look both upbeat and unusual. They fit in well on balconies and terraces, as well as in a mini garden. From pretty violet-yellow flowers, the bushy-growing plants grow many yellow-orange, purple-striped and spotted fruits. They reach size and shape of goose eggs. The flesh tastes pleasantly sweet and flavorful, somewhere between a pear and melon. The fresh fruits taste best served cut into pieces or cooled in the form of a fruit salad. You can also prepare them with juice and jam.
