Description
Field mustard is a special form of turnips, a classic spring vegetable. The delicate, sour-tasting leaves and stems are eaten either cooked or stewed with a bit of butter, stir-fried with garlic and red onions or baked. Furthermore, the leaves can be used for salads, the way you would use chicory. The turnip leaves start to wither shortly after their harvest. Therefore, they should be processed as quickly as possible or frozen. The plant belongs to the cabbage family and should not be sown in the same place. After four years it is safe to plant it in the original area.
